Forman School

Forman School is located in quintessential New England town of Litchfield, Connecticut, a two-hour drive from New York City, a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Boston, and an hour drive from Hartford. Dedicated to bright students who learn differently, Forman provides a college-prep educational environment where students are encouraged to explore all academic disciplines, as well as extracurricular, athletic, arts, and community service opportunities.

Forman School is a coed college prep school dedicated to empowering bright students who learn differently in grades 9-PG. Forman's Summer Program is a four-week boarding and day program at the School's bucolic 125-acre campus. The program offers individualized lessons in Math Comprehension, Reading, Metacognitive Strategies, Executive Functioning, Writing, and ACT/SAT preparation. Experienced teachers help students learn methods for success such as the Orton-Gillingham and Wilson techniques for reading, summarizing and paraphrasing, a multi-sensory approach to math, and learning with assistive technology. Students gain confidence and proficiency in their studies through research-based methods.

Summer Program students attend in-depth classes and engaging workshops, where they discover their learning styles, develop self-advocacy skills, and generate a personal action plan for the upcoming school year. Afternoons and weekends are set aside for fun, experiential activities such as ceramics, tennis, horseback riding, rock climbing, beach trips, hiking, digital photography, boat building, and growing a garden. Many Summer Program students grow into leadership roles upon returning to school in the fall.
