School History: Forty-four Years Ago…
Two parents who were also teachers seeking gifted education for all learners established Corbett Preparatory School of IDS and founded a truly innovative, one –of-a kind school. These pioneers believed that gifted education benefits all learners by “raising the ceiling” on learning. They believed strategies and approaches previously afforded only to gifted students can provide each learner excellence in academics through experiential learning, differentiated instruction, a strong academic focus, and nurturing of a positive self-concept. Today, Corbett Prep continues to honor the vision and foundation established in 1968 with a 21st century model for continuous improvement and a life-long learning mentality in the Olympic spirit – where the best keep getting better!
Programs and Services:
Corbett Preparatory School is committed to developing students who are internationally minded. From PreK3 through 8th grade, global perspectives are woven into academic lessons, visual and performing arts, electives, club, and community service. Through classroom technology, including ooVoo, Moodle, Skype, and Google Docs, students collaborate with students in China, Sweden and Italy. Students have the opportunity to participate in study trips to countries such as Spain, China, Sweden, and Peru and to host exchange students from Spain.
