Description:

Waimea Valley's unique cultural and natural resources provide a rich backdrop for teaching, learning, and inspiration. School programs at Waimea aim to perpetuate cultural knowledge and expertise, deepen ethnic identity and cultural roots, and engage students and teachers in a culturally relevant and responsible framework for learning. All school programs can be customized to be age appropriate, from pre-kindegarten though high school. Native Hawaiians draw from a deep well of scholarship and intellectual achievement. From early times, Hawaiians gathered comprehensive knowledge of the natural world and developed sophisticated systems for utilizing and sustaining natural resources over many generations. Waimea Valley provides an opportunity for students to learn Hawaiian history, values, and traditions while forging a physical and emotional connection with the land.
