Program History:
1918-1929 - The Great European Immigration
Goodwill Industires of Denver was founded to fill the need of the WWI veterans and immigrant families moving west.
1930’s - The Great Depression
In 1931, Goodwill becomes a landmark for families with limited means.
1940’s - Wartime Workforce Shortage
World War II caused employment demand for people with disabilities.
1950’s - The Education Era
Goodwill was a pioneer in the development of programs that served youth with developmental disabilities.
1960’s - The Decade of Equality
The first women's auxiliary in Colorado was established, providing volunteers for Goodwill.
1970’s - A Nation of Inflation
Denver Goodwill pioneered the development of attended collection centers
1980’s - The Age of Personal Computing
Goodwill begins computer skills training for disabled and disadvantaged individuals.
1990’s - The Economic Boom
Goodwill expanded to serve youth at-risk of dropping out of school.
21st Century - The New Millennium
Goodwill becomes a major "pipeline" for filling future workforce needs of our community.
