Additional Information:
The Boys and Girls Clubs of the High Rockies provide tutoring services in two small and rural communities. The Clubs are located in Park County, one in Fairplay and one in Bailey. The position in Fairplay has been filled and we are looking to place someone at the Baily Club starting in August.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the High Rockies (BGCHR) work to inspire and enable youth ages 5 - 18 years old through programs that support Healthy Lifestyle, Academic Success and Good Character and Leadership. Through before and after school opportunities BGCHR strives to address the gaps in opportunities experienced by rural youth. AmeriCorps members work closely with teachers, guardians, other service providers, and especially the children ages 6-14, to strengthen a youth's academic performance. The BGCHR AmeriCorps members are advocates for the children in the classroom during the school year and help to provide a safe environment for children to grow and experience the world after school and during the summer. If you enjoy youth and want to serve children who need additional academic support to experience success and see their potential for the future, you would be a wonderful addition the the BGCHR team.
Because of the rural, mountainous setting, it is necessary to have your own car to serve in this position. It is best if you have a car that has 4 wheel drive as there is snow on the ground about 9 months out of the year.
This position is an AmeriCorps position and receives a living stipend, medical insurance, FICA, unemployment insurance, workman's comp insurance, and an education award of $5,775 upon successful completion of a year of service. All federal loans can be put into forbearance during the service year and the Corporation for National and Community Service will pay any accrued interest on said loans upon successful completion of the service year. The year will begin early January, 2017.
