Mission Statement:

1) To shelter and provide the cats and dogs who have come under our stewardship with a quality life via cage-free, spacious quarters, good food, veterinary care, love and gentle handling regardless of their age, health condition and adoptability. We do not discriminate between conventionally “adoptable” animals (young, healthy, behaviorally stable) and those considered “unadoptable” (old, ill with treatable ailments, behaviorally unstable).

2) To carefully seek new, loving homes for all cats and dogs in our custody and to provide quality lifetime care for those who are not adopted.

3) To offer support to individuals who have rescued homeless cats and dogs through such means as mentoring, loan of equipment, financial support for spay/neuter (when available) and education about other available resources.

4) To educate pet owners toward a more loving and permanent relationship with their pets. To counsel pet owners who seek to give up their pets in an attempt to help them resolve the problem that causes them to feel the need to part with a beloved family member. If this is not possible, to respectfully offer advice and resource information to aid them in placing their cats or dogs in new, loving, permanent homes.

Philosophy/Belief Statement:

Since 1992, CARE has rescued at-risk dogs and cats without regard to their health status, behavior or adoptability, providing them needed medical care and spay/neuter services. Then we seek responsible adoptive homes for them. We hope to teach the next generation that all beings are special and deserve respect regardless of physical appearance, disease or age.

Program History:

Our commitment to our rescues is for life, whatever it takes - 7 weeks, 7 years or life. Through the years our direct rescue operations have saved and improved the lives of thousands of animals.
