Mission Statement:
Northwest Valley Connect’s mission is to provide personalized support to connect area residents with available transportation services, while developing new transportation options for seniors and people with disabilities, to overcome existing service gaps.
Philosophy/Belief Statement:
Our Goal: to ensure all citizens in our Northwest Valley area have options for transportation that fit their specific trip needs.
Program History:
Northwest Valley Connect was created by Sun Health and Benevilla, and is led by board members from the two organizations, as well as senior community members. With the expertise of our staff, and the support of our volunteers, we hope to realize our objectives towards improving the quality of life of communities by way of empowering them with better transportation.
The West Valley of Phoenix, Arizona, has a large proportion of senior citizens and persons with disability, but does not have a well-coordinated transportation system that caters to them. There is a great need to create better awareness transportation among the residents of the area, as well as to improve transportation options.
Our current projects seek to address these very needs. Our Call-Click-Connect Mobility Center is a call center that helps people identify available means of transport at any time. Ride Connect is a volunteer driver program that seeks to offer rides and door-through-door service to seniors when there are no available services to meet his or her needs. Both these projects have been successful in the Northwest Valley, we increasingly find that there are many more residents who require our services.
Our work is made possible by partnerships with organizations within the community, and the mutual sharing of resources with them. In future, we hope to extend our scope by undertaking more such partnerships.
We are seeking grants to continue our ongoing projects, as well as to help us kick-start new initiatives, that include a shared vehicle and driver program and a Taxi Connect program. With more donor support, we will also be able to expand our geographical reach beyond the Northwest Valley.
Events:
Motors and Meals will be our first ever special event with food trucks, raffles and more to raise funds and friends. March 11, 2017 in Sun City West from 1pm to 4pm.
Additional Information:
Call Center Operators: Answer calls and provide personalized assistance in our call center. Provide information about available transportation services in the area to link callers to available transportation services. Provide warm transfers to connect callers to transportation partners. Four hour shifts are available.
Drivers: Drive your own vehicle or one of ours. By volunteering to drive, you give the gift of mobility to an older adult or person with a disability. You will provide door-to-door transportation. Flexible hours on a schedule that works for you.
Community Ambassadors: Volunteers are needed to make community presentations about Northwest Valley Connect and its services to clubs, service organizations and homeowners associations. If you enjoy public speaking and spreading the word about a vital community service, this opportunity is for you.
Project Assistants: Work from home putting together reports, newsletters, delivering brochures and more.
Interns & Students: We welcome interns and students seeking a nonprofit learning experience. Prospective volunteers meet individually with our Executive Director to determine the best placement. We are the perfect place for your student learning experience.
