Mission Statement:
Wildlife Care Association, Inc. is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of local wildlife. WCA is committed to educating and instructing the community in the respect, appreciation, and care of local wildlife. WCA is pledged to the management and preservation of wildlife habitat.
Additional Information:
Wildlife Care Association is a non-profit wildlife rehabilitation organization that has served the Greater Sacramento area for over 40 years. Every year, concerned citizens bring thousands of wild animals to WCA to receive medical care and rehabilitation. WCA's goal is to release as many healthy wild animals back into the environment as we can. WCA relies heavily on volunteers and donations help provide this important service to the Sacramento community.
WCA has several volunteer positions available, which are listed below. To become a volunteer, start by going to WCA's website and submitting a volunteer application. Any questions about volunteering with WCA can be sent to our Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@wildlifecareassociation.com
Nursery volunteer (Must be 18 or older)
During the busy season, Nursery volunteers help take care of all the baby birds WCA takes in and cares for. There are several experience levels, from Beginner to Intern, and do everything from dishes and laundry to hand-feeding baby birds.
Intake Specialist (Must be 16 or older)
Intake Specialists run WCA's front desk. Their primary job is to intake animals people bring to WCA and gather and input information about the rescuer, where the animal was found, and why the animal was brought to WCA. Intake Specialists also greet members of the public and answer any questions they may have about wildlife or WCA.
Hotline Specialist (Must be 16 or older)
Hotline Specialists check and respond to WCA's hotline messages. They answer questions about sick, injured, and orphaned animals, as well as questions about peacefully coexisting with wildlife and much more!
Facilities Maintenance Volunteer (Must be 16 or older)
Facilities Maintenance volunteers help keep WCA's facility in tip-top shape! They do dishes, laundry, general housekeeping, and other maintenance tasks around the facility.
