History:
Founded in 1988 by Bette Fetter, Young Rembrandts has become a recognized leader in art education. What began as one person, working with children in her home, has developed into an international business that teaches drawing to thousands of students every week.
Fetter applied her fine arts education and background in child development to create an original, step-by-step method to teach children drawing, the fundamental skill of all visual arts.
Research and education experts say what Young Rembrandts has always delivered: there is a significant correlation between involvement in the arts and achievement in the classroom. Children who learn to draw using the Young Rembrandts method develop spatial reasoning and fine motor skills, order and sequencing abilities, visualization, and self-discipline as well as fundamental art skills. Our original curriculum introduces concrete ideas and techniques that enlarge their visual vocabularies, enrich their imaginations and their minds.
Today, Young Rembrandts partners with pre-schools, elementary schools and community centers to either augment or supply their art education programs. Young Rembrandts has a solid reputation for offering well-organized classes and teaching original, high quality curriculum in a positive environment.
"There are visible academic and art benefits for children that participate in our program. Young Rembrandts' students have fun while developing fundamental art literacy and improved academic abilities," notes Fetter. "We are passionate about helping children develop the skills they need to be successful."
Program Highlights:
Young Rembrandts was created to be fun. We offer child-friendly and relevant subject matter to spark children's interest and increase knowledge retention, never losing sight that children learn best when they are engaged and Young Rembrandts is based on an acclaimed, step-by-step drawing method that works hand-in-hand with our original, innovative art curriculum developed by a team of educators and artists. Our tiered lesson plans and multisensory approach to learning meet every child at their unique ability level. Our volume of curriculum is designed so a child can be enrolled from pre-school to sixth grade and never repeat a lesson. This allows our students to continually build skills and develop their personal style and creativity. Preschool Programs serve children 3½ to 5 - School sponsored drawing classes - Parent funded drawing classes Elementary Programs serve children 6 to 12 - Drawing classes - Cartooning classes - Themed workshops
Slogan: The power of drawing.
