Global Village Academy is a world-class school that supports P-16 education in English and a second world language and promotes college and workforce readiness in a global economy, as well as 21st-century skills, including the ability to work in cross-cultural situations
School History:
The impetus for Global Village Academy - Aurora (GVA-A) began in January 2005, when a group of parents discussed the need for a public school offering international education and bilingual education using partial immersion. The project gained momentum when Jade Amick Fulgenzi, an educational leader with 35 years of experience in international, multilingual, and multicultural education in public and private schools, was invited to organize the Planning Committee in Spring of 2005. GVA received a Walton Family Foundation Planning Grant for $20,000 in August 2005 and a charter application was submitted to Aurora Public School District on September 1, 2005. Following denial by the APS Board of the charter application on December 13, 2005, GVA-A's appeal was remanded to APS by a 6-1 vote of the Colorado Board of Education. APS Approved a resolution of conditional approval for GVA-A on March 14, 2006 by a 4-2 vote. Global Village Academy - Aurora opened in the fall of 2007 with grades K-5 and 226 students. Global Village Academy- Aurora currently serves over 1250, K-8th-grade students. The Global Village network has continued to grow and has opened 4 more locations in Colorado: Northglenn, Fort Collins, Colorado Springs and Parker.

Additional Information:
Innovation in Education
Global Village Academies are:
- Free, public international schools with language immersion instruction in English and the choice of Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, French, German, or Russian.
Our students develop a GLOBAL perspective by learning a second language; exploring diverse cultures to cultivate understanding and respect; and by developing the skills to live and work with others internationally – all essential elements for life in the 21st century.
With the world as the context for education, students need to find their place, their voice, and their dream. Our VILLAGE provides the support and the challenge to motivate students to excel in school and in life. Their success depends upon their own initiative and the support of peers, teachers, parents, and the wider community.
The ACADEMY has always been a symbol of rigorous education, critical thinking abilities, and love of knowledge. Through structured inquiry, students explore multi-disciplinary units that span each language village. These units integrate core subjects and encourage students to ask questions and make discoveries in their active search for knowledge.
