Mission Statement:
The mission of Esprit International School is to provide each student a balanced and diverse education in a safe, supportive environment that promotes self-discipline, motivation, and excellence in learning. Esprit embraces the objectives and goals of the International Baccalaureate Organization by offering challenging programs to inspire life-long learning. The Esprit team joins parents and the community to help students develop skills of independence and self-sufficiency, and to become successful adults who will contribute responsibly in a global community.
Philosophy/Belief Statement:
Our Vision
Our vision as a school is to communicate high expectations to all of our students while guiding them to learn independently, to work cooperatively, and to practice mutual respect.
Our Beliefs
• Each student is respected and valued as an individual with unique needs. Physical, emotional, social, spiritual, aesthetic and cognitive needs are inseparable. The Esprit curriculum provides an orderly framework for children to progress according to their individual capabilities.
• The role of the teacher is to serve as a facilitator for learning. By fostering security, self-confidence and independence in children, we enable them to develop into people who respect and care for themselves, others, the environment and all life.Students learn in different ways.
• Students learn best when they are actively engaged in the learning process in a prepared environment that promotes spontaneous cooperative inquiry.
• A safe and physically comfortable environment promotes student learning.
• A student's self-esteem is enhanced by successful achievement, positive relationships, and mutual respect among and between students and staff.
• Teachers, parents, and the community share the responsibility for the support of the Esprit mission.
School History:
In September of 1999, Esprit opened in The Woodlands, Texas with one 3-6 year old class of 18 students. In short order, the need for a Montessori elementary class was identified by parents who saw great learning successes in their children as a result of being taught by the Montessori method. One year later, in September 2000, Esprit opened the first Montessori elementary school in The Woodlands.
Since then, the growth of Esprit has been steady and purposeful. Standards and benchmark assessments have been established to ensure the consistency of quality teaching in each of our classrooms. New programs have also been added each year. The School now has five divisions to meet the needs of a wide range of learners in multi-age classroom environments.
