Our mission is to teach a coherent, cumulative, and content-specific curriculum in language arts, history, geography, mathematics, science, the arts and agriculture so that our students become literate, knowledgeable, and confident leaders serving our community, nation and world.
Philosophy/Belief Statement:
ROOTED IN EXCELLENCE
We believe that students will learn and achieve a higher level when we raise the bar, emphasize
excellence, and provide an educational framework in which critical thinking, individual perspectives, and
social understandings are highly valued.
GROWING THROUGH KNOWLEDGE
We teach a sequentially rigorous curriculum that builds knowledge upon knowledge. Our students
participate in the educational experience with purposeful instruction in language arts, history, geography,
mathematics, science, technology, and the arts, demonstrating mastery of comprehensive learning applied
in an agricultural context.
PHILOSOPHY
We believe students learn best when excellent teachers teach a coherent curriculum fully supported by a
strong parent community.
We believe the integrated use of visual, auditory, verbal, and motor-cognitive skills during skill &
content instruction is essential to student learning.
We believe students learn by building knowledge upon knowledge when instructed in a purposefully
sequential program.
We believe integrating authentic, agriculture-based content as the context in which we teach our core
curriculum improves student achievement.
THE MITCH GOAL
It is our goal for 100% of our students to meet or exceed the Common Core State Standards grade
benchmarks as measured through the standardized assessments established by the Oregon Department of
Education without teaching to the tests.

School History:
Welcome to MITCH Charter School!
The quality of your child's education is vitally important to you. You know that a broad base of knowledge supported by strength of character and self-discipline will help your child not only thrive in life, but will also prepare your child to effectively lead and serve our world.
Your child's education is equally important to us.
We are a small, vibrant public school serving kindergarten through 8th grade by partnering with families to create a positive, supportive community dedicated to every child's success. Our class sizes are small, but our education is expansive!
We teach a rigorous liberal arts program in literature and language arts, history and geography, mathematics and science, art and music - purposefully integrated and sequenced from year-to-year. We are serious about multi-sensory and hands-on teaching in the classroom, and through our focus on sustainable, urban agriculture.
Charter schools are schools of choice - your choice. When you choose MITCH Charter School, you are choosing to actively participate in an opportunity for your child to be a part of a community of joyful learners.
You are choosing to partner with your child's teacher, and thus share your values about education with your child.
You are choosing a school who will partner with you to grow and develop your child's character with qualities such as kindness, self-control, perseverance, and honesty.
When you choose MITCH, you choose an exceptional school for your child.
I look forward to talking with you, meeting you for a tour of MITCH, and most importantly, educating your child well.
