WTOP-TV (SUNY Oswego)
WTOP 10 is a fully functioning Student television station located in Oswego, New York. Originating on the SUNY Oswego campus and seen on cable channel 10 on the on-campus cable system, WTOP 10 is the only local television station originating out of Oswego County, as well as on their Livestream webpage. Aside from its on-campus viewership, select programs are also seen on Public-access television cable TV channel 96 on Time Warner Cable and also online.
WTOP is viewable on campus 24 hours a day, 7 days a week when the College is in session.
WTOP was started in 1978, beginning as VideoVisions, and has always been entirely student run.
WTOP moved from Hewitt Union to the new Al Roker Studio in the Campus Center in 2008.
WTOP offers a variety of programming that covers all interests. During the Fall 2009 semester, there were 16 student produced shows on air that covered every topic from cooking to sports to sitcoms. All of WTOP's original programming can be seen live online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
WTOP offers real-life broadcasting experience for students hoping to break into the field upon graduation. It also offers experience for students in areas such meteorology, sales, business, art, and graphic design as WTOP is fully functioning with weather reports, budgeting, and graphics.
Any SUNY Oswego student can join WTOP at any time by visiting WTOP's website, contacting an executive board member, or simply stopping in the at the station located in the Campus Center.
10 News Tonight
Live nightly newscasts can be seen Sunday through Thursday each night beginning at 10pm. Newscasts are replayed Monday through Friday at 8am and 12:00pm
Hockey Night in Oswego
Hockey Night in Oswego is WTOP's live hockey coverage show. They cover every men's and women's home-ice hockey game in the season, except for those during winter recess. The show includes a pregame show, two in-game shows, and a post game show.
WTOP Original Programming
In the fall semester of 2009 WTOP launched 19 Shows produced by Students. WTOP continues with this high show number, including Oswego Sports Update, A Weekend in Oz, Get Baked with Julia, and Movies in Minutes.
Broadcasting
WTOP is offered on campus channel 10, Oswego County channel 96, Live Stream, and during sports events on the Oswego Athletics Live Video page.
Getting Involved
WTOP is open to all students currently attending SUNY Oswego who pay the Student Activity Fee. WTOP encourages all students, no matter what their major, get involved.
