Mission Statement:
The mission of our Jewish community day school is to educate Jewish students through an integrated secular and Jewish studies program to thrive in college and beyond and act ethically and purposefully in the world.
School History:
Herzl Jewish Day School was founded in the Spring of 1975 by a group of parents whose children had attended a synagogue pre-school program which combined secular and Judaic education. They sought to expand this learning experience. Herzl began as a one-room schoolhouse of 14 students. Growth of the school was rapid. From 1980-1982 the school grew to 105 students. In 1986 Herzl became a member of the Association of Colorado Independent Schools (ACIS).
Rocky Mountain Hebrew Academy was founded in 1979 as the only secondary coeducational Jewish day school in the region. RMHA merged with Herzl in 1999 to become one school known as Herzl/RMHA at the Denver Campus for Jewish Education. In August of 2010, after an intense strategic planning process, the school's name was changed to Denver Jewish Day School. With a plurlalistic approach to the varieties of Jewish belief and expression, Denver Jewish Day School serves a broad spectrum of the community. the basic principles established by the founding families of both schools remain today: a pluralistic approach to Judaism, excellence in secular and Judaic education, and a commitment to meet the needs of individual students. We are proud of our past and excited about our future.
