To introduce the art of Storytelling in teaching to the next generation.
Philosophy/Belief Statement:
Storytelling is not Just for Kids! Storytelling is the oldest and still one of the most effective methods of teaching known to man.
Program History:
I was raised in the Mountains of East Tennessee where I learned to tell stories from family and friends. In 1961 I formed a group of young people who were interested in helping Black kids to learn to read. We got caught up in the "Freedom Summer" in Mississippi and ended up in Selma Alabama. By the Selma/Montgomery March only two of us were still alive. My award winning CD "The Hanging of Tom Brown" is the story of and dedicated to Those 6 who gave their lives for the Rights guaranteed by our Constitution and ignored by so many.
