Program History:

Since Mel founded the M and M TEAM in 1987 he has conducted over 17,200 satisfaction guaranteed programs with over 1.25 million in attendance. Mel has performed in theaters, hospitals, schools, children's camps, and churches.

While specializing as a Youth Services Officer at the Sun Prairie Police Department from 1974 through August, 1987, Mel received seventeen (17) excellence in service to youth awards. The recognition’s were from city and state youth organizations, service clubs, Sun Prairie Public Schools, and the Sun Prairie Police Department. The awards were for outstanding service in the areas of creative youth program development and implementation of educational and safety services for youth.

Mel authored an informational guide on the interaction of youth with police as it related to drinking behaviors, traffic laws and one’s decision making responsibilities surrounding these issues. THE STUDENT SURVIVAL MANUAL had a distribution of 197,500 copies throughout Wisconsin. The state of New Jersey patterned their informational guide after the MANUAL. Mel presented over 2,500 safety/crime prevention programs during his time with the Department.

Service on the Board of Directors of the Dane County, Wisconsin and International Juvenile Officers’ Associations, the Traffic Safety Officer’s Association as well as many local organizations was avenues by which significant positive youth impact was achieved.

In addition to assemblies, his acquired knowledge is transferred through conference exhibits, workshops and as an inspirational key note speaker.
