School History:

Founded in 2012 by Steve and Madalyn Cano, and Susan Miller, Co-founder.  The Cano's, raising a son with ADHD & High Functioning Autism, and have lived the fight for services, educational opportunities, available therapies, and progress commensurate to their son's abilities.

Finding a therapeutic school in Dallas, but living in Granbury, Tx., the Cano's were inspired to help other families achieve access to a school that would be uniquely designed to meet all the various therapeutic needs.

Madalyn, having worked with Children & Families for over 28 years, envisioned a healthy balance between academics and social cognitive learning in a private school setting. To meet all the complex learning differences encompassed in today's learners, the school is designed to address and improve neuro-developmental and behavioral challenges such as ADHD, Autism, NVLD, Dyslexia, Discalcula, Dysgraphia, gross and fine motor control, anxiety, low self-esteem and overall wellness for student and family.
The school was founded to provide an exceptionally well rounded program combining practices from neuroscience, cognitive & behavioral sciences, speech and language pathology, applied behavioral analysis and social work to achieve success for life beyond a supportive school setting.

The school started with 2 students and 3 staff in January, 2013 and has quickly grown to nearly 30 students. Almost half of the famlies travel from outside the Hood County area to bring their students to Lake Pointe Academy.  Some families have moved from other cities so they could enroll their children.

We have many dreams and visions for all that Lake Pointe is designed to be.  Through failth and committment, those dreams are being realized through our demonstrated progress each year.
