The Higher Certificate in Film, Television and Entertainment Production introduces the student to camera, grips, lighting, multi-cam studio, stage rigging, production coordination, art department, wardrobe, make-up and styling and stage management. The Higher Certificate Programme in Radio Podcasting introduces the student to radio programming, scheduling, studio, field recording and sound mixing. Both Certificate Programmes are one - year Foundation programmes which give students access to the undergraduate degree if they are not eligible at the point of application. These programmes also serve as practical GAP year experiences for students wanting to travel and live abroad for one year whilst gaining meaningful industry relevant education and experience.

The BA Degrees in Motion Picture Medium and Live Performance offer students the opportunity to discover their aptitude in 1st year in order to progress and specialize in 2nd and 3rd year. Outcomes in the Bachelor of Art in Motion Picture Medium and Live Performance include short films, television promos or productions, stage productions and musical performance.

The Commerce and Computer Technology streams allow students the opportunity to identify potential start up business opportunities arising from dissipating or stagnant capital flows. Students introduce innovative technologies to realize these business opportunities. AFDA’s pedagogy is about work-integrated, experiential and project based learning and research and this is applied into all course offerings. Through the AFDA School of Business and Innovation Technology, Commerce, Computer Technology and Art curriculums interface to create a collaborative educational environment in which students form Innovation Hubs to realize their simulated start up business together.
